Academy Awards 2010 Predictions
The Academy Awards are only a few hours away from being presented tonight. We all have our favorites among the Academy Awards nominations 2010 for various categories. Here are our final predictions on the winners for Oscars 2010 in many popular categories with the reasons for their wins.
Best Actor: Jeff Bridges "Crazy Heart"
As far as winning an Oscar goes, two of the best actor nominees have already won and they are George Clooney and Morgan Freeman. For the first time nominated are Colin Firth and Jeremy Renner and must be glad to be. But we all know that the Best Actor Oscar belongs this year to Jeff Bridges for his wonderful performance in "Crazy Heart".
Best Actress: Sandra Bullock "The Blind Side"
Here the competition is little tough what with a veteran like Meryl Streep with her 16th nomination and on the other side is Sandra Bullock who ruled the box office in 2009. Many believe that the Oscar is overdue to Meryl Streep this time as she has lost 11 times after being nominated after last win in 1988. But that does not help her, does it? Even though what a great performance she has given. Logic takes over emotion and I have to say its Sandra Bullock.
Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow "The Hurt Locker"
A lot has been said about it for many weeks now. Please do check our 'The Hurt Locker' review published few days ago in related articles and you will know why Kathryn Bigelow is the winner of Best Director Oscar. James Cameron, Jason Reitman and Quentin Tarantino have all been nominated for the second time. Kathryn Bigelow did win the Director's Guild Award and we all know that almost always that means an Oscar win too. Only six times since the beginning of that award in 1948 has the DGA winner not won the Oscar.
Best Picture: "The Hurt Locker"
A lot of negative publicity is being given to 'The Hurt Locker' in last few days and that definitely an indication of the stature of this movie. Even James Cameron stooped to the level of saying give Kathryn Bigelow the Best Director but give us Best Picture. What about that? There is no denying the fact after sweeping the DGA awards The Hurt Locker is the top contender for Best Picture Oscar.
Best Visual Effects: Joe Letteri, Stephen Rosenbaum, Richard Baneham & Andy Jones for "Avatar"
Do I need to say anything here?
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz for "Inglourious Basterds"
His performance says it all and if you want statistics then online betting sites are an indication of his win too.
Best Supporting Actress: Mo'Nique "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire"
Well, her previous sweeping of all the awards leading up to the Oscars is a strong indication of her win tonight. Case closed.
Best Animated Feature: "Up"
There is only one film in the running in this category and Best overall Picture. So that's it.
So now all we are to do is wait and watch who wins what at the Oscar Awards 2010 tonight. Do write in your views to us.
