"Shocking" is the word most people describe it as. Joshua Tabor of Yelm, Washington, a 27 year old, father of 4 year old girl, has been charged with assaulting his daughter first by holding her head under water in kitchen sink and then beating heron Sunday night.

A newspaper reports that Joshua told a police officer that he and his girl friend "held her down on the counter and submerged her head into the water three or four times until the water came around her forehead and jawline.".

He said he was punishing her for "refusing to say her letters."

Tabor is a soldier at the Lewis-McChord base in Tacoma, Washington.He has been charged with second degree assault and will have to appear in court on February 16.

The police says that Tabor did not appear as though he felt that he had done any thing wrong by doing all this.
