GLAAD is a Media awards ceremony with a difference in the fact that it honors people who have lost their claim to fame due to the fact that they are either gay or lesbian.

This year, the event organized by the GLAAD or the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation shall see former superstars like Kristin Chenoweth and singer Ricky Martin walk away with special accolades at the Media Awards’ night.

The event is going to be staged on the 19th of the coming month of March in the city of New York and on that night Ricky Martin is going to be honored with the Vito Russo’s Award for his contribution towards the homosexual community.

It was only last year that this truth about the world renowned singer came out in the light when he admitted to being a homosexual himself in his memoir that was ME.

The award comes as a reward for his service towards promoting unbiased attitude to different sexual orientations in the United States by promoting equality of the LGBT community in the nation.

The report came through from Cindy Clark who is associated with USA Today. As for Kristin Chenoweth, her award shall follow a little later.

The Vanguard award is all set to come her way on the tenth of April which is going to recognize her contribution in Los Angeles in trying to make the presence of the LGBT community felt and understood by the whole of the nation.

Ricky Martin would in fact receive his award from Andy Cohen, who is the SVP of Bravo. With the event in New York as well as that in Los Angeles GLAAD is looking to celebrate its silver jubilee anniversary in grand style.
