For President Barack Obama the Health Care Bill is really important. And, as the Democrats in the Congress prepare to include a popular student initiative in the Bill President Obama is ready to push the Health Care Bill. He has also delayed his high profile Asia Trip keeping the bill in mind.
The President has changed his plans, which previously included a trip to Asia from March 18th to March 21st. Now, the Democrats want his signature on the domestic policy initiative.
"We stand ready to stay as long as it takes to pass a bill," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats are now planning another major initiative. And, that is to overhaul the federal college student-loan program and increase the grants for low-income colleges. Yes, democrats have now decided to add the Federal College student-loan program to the Health Care Bill. They have also decided on a new legislative procedure known as “Budget Reconciliation”.
The Congressional Budget Office has completed its analysis on the Health Care Bill. And, that suggests Democrats want it to keep the cost less than $ 1 trillion over a period of 10 years. The huge monetary spending that might be required to implement the Bill has made some of the orthodox Democrats apprehensive about the Bill.
However, the move to join the Health Bill as well as the Education Bill is supposed to be a masterstroke from President Obama. Orthodox Democrats however say that a singular focus is a better strategy and such double mindedness may invite fresh criticism from the Republicans who are already sharpening their knives.
Obama’s subsequent Education Bill is going to eliminate the Bank subsidies and instead the Government itself will provide the loans. Experts feel that it is a brilliant move as it will be more efficient as well as cost effective.
