Ryan Murphy is reportedly one of the lead names in the race to direct the new Annie adaptation with Willow Smith in the leading role.

According to US website Deadline, plans for the new film were recently revealed and it has claimed that Sony has approached the Glee creator Murphy about taking over the direction of the new film but no deal has yet been made. The daughter to actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow is known for starring in movies such as ‘I Am Legend’ and ‘Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl’, along with her hit single Whip My Hair!

Murphy has impressed the bosses at Sony with the success of Glee, along with his hit movie Eat Pray Love, starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem.

It’s being claimed that he is also being in the line to take the helm of a remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show that is being planned by Fox.
