Sacha Baron Cohen dropped from Oscars: Considered too Risky
Sacha Baron Cohen is known to create controversies with his crazy acts in movies and on stage at functions. The controversial actor has been dropped from the Oscars where 'Bruno' Sacha Baron Cohen was supposed to do an Avatar spoof along with Ben Stiller . In the spoof he was to enact a female Na'vi.
During the act the woman was to rip open her gown to show that the Na'vi woman was pregnant and then she announces that the father of the love child is Avatar director James Cameron. Oscar Ceremony producer Bill Mechanic thought the spoof would offend Cameron and so canceled the spoof and so Baron Cohen was out of Oscars.
'Borat' Sacha Baron Cohen's rep, Matt Lebov issued a statement saying, "I hate to use the term because it's so ubiquitous, but there were 'creative differences'. Nothing acrimonious, but both sides felt that since they couldn't agree, he might as well remain in London."
James Cameron on the other hand commented that he had no idea about the spoof and will have no problems with any such routine about the sci-fi-blockbuster nominated for nine Oscars. Talking to E! he said, ""If they want to poke fun at Avatar Sunday, that's OK by me. The Oscars are a celebration of movies... even the gaffes and out-of-bounds stuff are all part of the fun."
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be presented Sunday night and will be telecast live on ABC.
