At the 30th Razzie Awards, the annual eve-of-Oscars satire which is dedicated to the worst performances of Hollywood, actress Sandra Bullock topped the list of the flops. The award ceremony was held at Barnsdall Theatre in Los Angeles.
Bullock was present in person to take away her Razzie award and enchanted the guests present at the event. However, today the actress has a chance to create an unparalleled record to win Oscar twice if she wins the best actress statuette for her performance in the movie “The Blind Side.”
During the event, the 45-year-old actress distributed DVD copies of her felonious performance in the movie “All About Steve” to guests. She also bagged the Razzie award for the worst screen couple category with co-star Bradley Cooper. .
Although the sci-fi movie “Avatar’s” runaway success has created huge records at the Hollywood box office but still the buzz is that Iraq war flick “The Hurt Locker” will establish new records at today's 82nd Academy Awards ceremony.
As the rumors go, the movie “The Hurt Locker” will beat James Cameron's flick “Avatar” in the best picture, director and a few other categories too.
Cameron's ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow directed the movie “The Hurt Locker” which was made for $US15 million ($A16.5 million) and had a low earning of $US19 million in box office takings worldwide, whereas the $US400 million budgeted Avatar fetched $US2.55 billion as far as the ticket sales were concerned thus making it the biggest smash hit in Hollywood history.
The bookies in Las Vegas, Britain and Australia have placed The Hurt Locker at top with the odds of around 4/5 for the best picture category, while Avatar comes second with the odds of 5/4. The third favorite is the movie “Inglourious Basterds” with odds at 14/1. The movie is directed by Quentin Tarantino and stars Brad Pitt.
As per the bookies, Kathryn Bigelow is all set to make a record and become the first women to win best director.
With a desire to win back the hearts of television audiences, the Academy Award producers have made a lot of changes which comprises of the double act of comedian Steve Martin and actor Alec Baldwin as co-hosts of the event.
