Sean Sutton arrested: Charged with trying to procure prescription drugs from out of state. Authorities say that former Oklahoma State basketball coach Sean Sutton was arrested for allegedly trying to procure prescription painkillers from out of state, and he had to spend the night in jail.
Authorities said that he seemed to be suffering withdrawal symptoms when he was released on Friday.Jail staff reported that Sutton, 41, had been vomiting ,sweating profusely and experiencing other withdrawal symptoms.Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs reported that Sean was arrested on Thursday, within hours of his arrival to pick up a consignment of painkillers under a false name.Further it was reported that Sutton's package contained about 40 pills which included anti-anxiety drug clonazepam, two types of stimulant Adderall and another unidentified drug.There has been a history of addiction in Sutton's family as his father Eddie Sutton had to step down as coach of the Cowboys in May 2006 after a drunk driving crash.
Eddie had undergone treatment for alcohol addiction.In 2006 Sean succeeded his father as coach of the Cowboys.But he had to resign under pressure in April 2008 and has not coached since.Sean had been undergoing treatment for some time last year for drug addiction.Sean's arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
It is likely Sutton will be charged with obtaining a controlled or dangerous substance (CDS) by fraud, possession of a CDS, attempted possession of a CDS and use of a communication device to facilitate a felony, said an official.
