Tiger Woods turns down Paddy Power's $75 million sponsorship deal
Golf Star Tiger Woods has turned down a $75 million sponsorship deal, reports Marketwatch.com.
The report says that a publicity trading company in Ireland and the U.K., called Paddy Power offered IMG who represent the disgraced golfer, $75 million over 5 years. The company said that it is still interested in making a deal with the ace golfer and so will make a better offer as they feel that Tiger Woods Paddy Power alliance will be beneficial to both..
Ever since the Tiger Woods scandal came to light, he has lost a whole series of sponsorship deals from big companies like Accenture, Gatorade unit of PepsiCo and Gillette and many more. The scandal ridden golfer's downfall began in November with a car crash outside his home after an argument with his wife Elin Nordegren that later led to revelations of his numerous affairs with multiple mistresses. It was followed by the golfer taking an indefinite break from golf and entering sex rehab clinic. Recently Tiger Woods offered public apology in a televised statement also.
However Nike and Electronic Arts are two companies that have continued their support to world's number one golfer.
Paddy Power shares registered 0.5% raise in trading on Friday. Its shares have almost doubled over the last 12 months.
