Vladimir Guerrero Signs 1-year Contract With Orioles
By Ralph Hayden
The world of baseball is all set to undergo a world of change as the league champions from the last season, that were the Rangers, will have to miss out on the services of one of the players that played a huge part in their winning the season last time around.
Vladimir Guerrero is no longer a part of the Rangers team and he has signed on with the Orioles to play for them next season. The contract only binds him for a mere one year but given the fact that he is a thirty six year old man now, that contract should suffice at the top most level at least for now.
However, irrespective of the fact that Guerrero may be tagged as one of the not so young players in the league, it certainly did not hamper the performance that he put out on display in the last season where he ended up as one of the champs.
The performance that was exhibited by Vladimir Guerrero last season was vindictive of the fact that the quality of a player is always going to have to be weighed heavier than his age. The hits last season for Guerrero saw him average at a better than decent .300 which included a hundred and twenty nine RBIs and as many as twenty nine home runs.
But what is a loss for the Rangers is a great gain for the Orioles for the coming season as the slugger decided to sign the deal with his new team only yesterday.
The Orioles made some other good acquisitions as well in Justin Duchscherer who can be rich by 4 and a half million dollars out of his deal depending on his performance but is assured of at least seven hundred thousand of the dough.
